About Truck Art
Terry Gibbs went into business in 1976 after finishing his apprenticeship. He first opened his doors at 383 Edward Street in Wagga as Terry Gibbs Spray Painting, with just himself as a sole trader. Terry Gibbs Spray Painting started out pronominally painting Truck Cabs into business colours.
Established in his own right for 11 years, Terry decided that it was time to move. He built his own premise on Saxon Street in Wagga Wagga and changed his Trading Name to Truck Art Pty Ltd, which he is still a managing director of today.
As the business progressed and expanded, a unique opportunity presented itself in 1996 in the way of 365 Edward Street Wagga Wagga. A highway presence, a bigger premises would allow for the expansion into Air Conditioner fitments, Smash Repairs and Spray Painting…. seemed too good to be true.
During Truck Art’s time in Edward Street the Interstate workshops in Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide were also established. These workshops allow a national service for Truck Art in Sleeper Cab Air Conditioners and are all still in operation today.
Sister company Truck Art Trailer Pty Ltd was also bought during this time in 2010. Truck Art Trailers manufacture accredited and quality Stockcrate Trailers to the trucking industry and is quickly becoming known as a market leader in their designs and workmanship.
In 2017 Truck Art had its final move to 15 Lewington Street at Bomen, directly opposite Truck Art Trailers. The move to Bomen was to help join the two businesses together, operating directly opposite each other. This has been a successful move for a number of reasons, including but not limited to that Truck Art now operates in a 86 meters by 39 meters shed, all under the one roof, with double overhead cranes and still room to expand the business if needed and it was a rare chance to bring the two together.
As 2018 got under way, Truck Art achieved one of its long-term goals, National Transport Insurance Premium Repairer (NTI) accreditation. Achieving NTI Premium Repairer status and meeting the NTI Premium Repairer standards is an enormous achievement that required a complete refocus of the businesses policies and underpinning procedures. Truck Art now proudly displays its NTI Premium Repairer signage as an outward display of this achievement.
Truck Art opened its Sandblasting facility in 2019 and now has the ability to blast any item from the size of a motor bike to farm machinery through to a 45 foot livestock trailer. We are also opened to the public.
Today Truck Art currently 39 people and Truck Art Trailers employs 35 people, a total of 74 employees nationwide. Asked, why Terry think’s his business have been able to operate so successfully for so long “due to the dedication and quality workmanship of our employees. Special mention to our long serving staff members, many have over 10 years, 20 and 30 years working for Truck Art”.
Terry, the business owner, continues to seek opportunities for further development and who knows what the future will bring; stay tuned.
